About the Team
Our team is at the forefront of analytics for Reinsurance. We build analytical products that focus a wide range of topics from Contract Wording to Natural Catastrophes, enabling the company to accurately manage our risks.
Joining us, you will learn the technologies that are used in modern data solutions with a focus on cloud technologies and distributed systems, in a collaborative environment with colleagues from Swiss Re's international offices.
About the Role
As a senior engineer, you will collaborate with and mentor a local team of 4-5 developers, providing technical guidance and assistance as needed. You will be part of a team catering for apps for our core contract processes, working side-by-side with our business engineers, data engineers and other technology professionals. You will be fully engaged in the architecture & design discussion going cross various technologies, namely Java, Angular and Azure.
In your role you are responsible for:
-Participating in Solution Design & Implementation
-Development of new applications together with the team
-Continuous improvement and maintenance of existing applications
-Use of modern UI/UX
-Act as a lead engineer in your area
-Defining/improving best practices for building, testing and deploying of applications
-Staying on top of emerging trends and help the organization in making informed technology decisions

-proven experience with Java, Angular or other Node.js based apps, Docker
-proven experience with developing distributed systems hosted in public clouds on Kubernetes
-Scripting and coding: Good knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Shell) and programming languages (Java, Java-/Typescript) to automate tasks and processes.
-Experience with leading small development teams in a hybrid (virtual and office) setup
-Enjoy teamwork with the ability to work responsibly, self-reliant and result-oriented
-Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is a plus
-Cloud Services: In-depth knowledge of the Azure cloud platform is a plus
